Josh Blakely - Black Belt Head Intructor

Owner & Head Instructor, Empire Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Josh Blakely, owner and head instructor of Empire Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Freeport, Maine, began his BJJ journey in 2003 at The Academy in Portland under Amal Easton's first black belt Jay Jack. After earning his brown belt in 2012, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he taught full-time, managed multiple gyms, and led seminars for law enforcement, military personnel, and local organizations. Josh continued his training with BJJ legend Helio "Soneca" Moreira, earning his black belt in April of 2016. Returning to Maine, Josh founded Empire to share his passion and expertise with the community. 

Off the mats, Josh dedicates his free time to his family and three dogs.
